Bridal Sample Sale Shopping Tips

Not your typical bridal experience….

Boston’s biggest bridal sale is a great way to score a beautiful designer wedding gown at a great price…but not without first understanding fully what a sample sale is and what to expect.  Here are a few of our thoughts and tips:

Know Your Style. Make sure you have tried on dresses before. This will help to know what you are looking for.

A sample sale may not be the best place to start your wedding dress shopping. That’s because the sample sale gowns are just a selection of gowns, so not every silhouette, fabric type, and style is represented. But if you know what you're looking for and love a great deal then this is the event you don’t want to miss.

Know Your Size. Gowns will be organized by size so know what bridal size you are looking for to help you select gowns.

Bridal gowns fit differently than your typical article of clothing, and each bridal designer fits differently.

If you have already tried on a few wedding gowns, you might have a better understanding of fit, but if the Boston Bridal Collective sample sale will be your first time trying on gowns, we suggest you take your measurements and compare them to the size chart below, this will give you a guideline of the size you might be in bridal.

Since bridal reservations during the sale will only be 45 minutes, we suggest you come prepared to know your size to maximize your time selecting and trying gowns.

Bridal shop gown samples range in size from 4-28+ with average sizes being between 8-14. All gowns available during the sale will be organized by size. To better provide an idea of sizing, a ladies street size 6 might fit like a 10/12 in bridal and a woman’s size 14 might fit like a size 20/22 in bridal and a bra cup size of a B/C. The standard length of a gown typically does not work well for someone that is shorter than 5′ or taller than 5’10”. Bridal gowns can typically be tailored down 2-3 sizes, however, they are much more difficult to go up in size.

Of course, if you have any questions or concerns on fit, professional bridal consultants will be available at the bridal sale to help direct you to the correct size(s) you should consider.

Be Ready! Sample sales are a love-at-first-sight kind of event so be prepared to buy if you fall in love with THE gown.

At the Boston Bridal Collective sample sale, you are allowed to bring 2 guests with you. We recommend you bring the helpful decision-makers and come ready to commit to a sample gown. Gowns cannot be held for you to think it over. If you fall in love with a gown buy it immediately, otherwise, the next bride might scoop it up!

Alterations.

Alterations are always an additional fee and are not included in the price of the gown. When planning your gown budget, keep in mind the gown will require alterations to fit perfectly.

A gown can typically be taken in 2-3 sizes depending on the details of the dress; depending on the designer, a gown may be able to be let out ½ to a full size larger.

Any additional repairs or cleaning a sample gown needs will be reflected in the price of the gown during the sale.

Boston Bridal Collective is not responsible for alterations and it is up to every client to decide and find their own.
